In 2017, HILA was entrusted by ALS Malta Foundation, to manage and operate the first home in the community for supporting persons diagnosed with ALS, MS, and other motor-neuron degenerative diseases.  Such specialised care was previously only available in hospital, making Dar Bjorn Qormi the first facility of its kind in Malta to be able to offer this level of care in the community, ensuring its residents are given the opportunity to remain within a home environment whilst still receiving the best quality of care.

In 2023, ALS Malta Foundation extended its operations through a new home, Dar Bjorn Żebbuġ, a state-of-the art home which materialised the need for more persons with these conditions to access specialised care in the community.
